November 2026
the world’s card for the month
I've always thought The World is one of tarot's most misunderstood cards. Since the World is the last of the 22 Arcana, it's often considered the end/completion. "Completion" can sound like a finish line. But that's not really what this card's about. It's about getting somewhere you've worked hard to reach and actually letting yourself take it in before you move on to the next thing.
So, as you approach or are in November, it's worth asking yourself–what is culminating right now? And since this is the Collective card, we should all ask–what is culminating right now collectively?
First, some quick math. The Almanac gives the whole world one card for the year, using the year's digits. 2026 breaks down to 2+0+2+6, which gives us 10: the Wheel of Fortune. So 2026 has been a Wheel year, with things circling back around, changing, or bringing old themes back into our lives.
Now add November, the eleventh month. 10 + 11 = 21, which gives us The World. The Wheel year arrives, in its second-to-last month, at the card of completion.
The part that isn't the finish line
The World is the final card of the major arcana. The dancer in the wreath and the four figures in the corners represent everything coming together after the journey through the cards before it.
Think about the feeling of finally unpacking the last box in a home that's yours. Or looking around at a life you've worked hard to build and realizing: I actually did this.
The shadow of The World isn't failure. It's never letting yourself feel finished.
Maybe you've reached the thing you were working toward, but instead of enjoying it, you immediately start looking for what's still wrong. Maybe the goalpost moves as soon as you reach it. Maybe you assume you should have done more.
That's The World's shadow. It doesn't mean you're ungrateful. It means you might have a hard time recognizing when something is actually complete and/or deserves a bit of celebration.
Completion also doesn't have to look like everyone else's version.
Maybe you don't throw the party. Maybe you leave your stuff in the old apartment for a few extra weeks because you're not ready to hand back the keys. Maybe your last day at a job ends quietly, without anyone there to make a big deal about it.
It still counts.
You get to decide what completion looks like for you. It can be loud or quiet. It can happen right on schedule or take a little longer than you expected.
You've got your own personal card running under November, too, and it's worth a look this month. You'll find it in your personal Almanac.
Where November sits
November closes out what the Almanac calls the Reckoning, the final seven cards.
The Devil shows you the chain was never locked. The Tower comes down. The Star gives you room to breathe. The Moon takes you through the last stretch of uncertainty. The Sun brings things into the open. Judgement asks you to reckon with what you've learned.
And then you get The World.
After that, the deck starts again with card 0, The Fool, standing at the edge of something new.
Which is part of what makes The World so interesting. Finishing something doesn't mean everything's over. It means you get to stop for a moment, notice it, then begin again.
If something in your November is actually closing, a project, a version of you, a chapter that has run its course, let it close.
