Terms of Service

Welcome to The Tarot Almanac (tarotalmanac.com, the "Service"), operated by Tali Beesley, a sole proprietor doing business as The Tarot Almanac ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What the Service is
The Tarot Almanac calculates tarot cards and readings from dates using a fixed, deterministic formula (mod-22 arithmetic on the Major Arcana, with a documented two-stage process for Minor Arcana day cards). Every result is derived from math you can verify yourself; nothing is shuffled or randomly drawn. On top of these deterministic results, we offer optional AI-synthesized interpretive readings, which are clearly labeled as such and are a separate, generated layer distinct from the underlying chart math.
The Service is offered for entertainment, self-reflection, and educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Don't use it as the basis for major life, medical, financial, or legal decisions. If you're in crisis or need professional support, please seek out a qualified professional.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement. At registration, we check the birth date you provide against this minimum; providing a false birth date to circumvent this requirement is a violation of these Terms.
This age minimum applies to account holders only. It does not restrict an account holder from saving a chart for a minor in their care (see Section 4 below).
3. Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your account access (your email, since we use passwordless magic-link sign-in) secure.
- You agree to provide accurate information, including your birth date, since the accuracy of your readings depends on it.
- You're responsible for all activity under your account.
- You may delete your account at any time; see our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data when you do.
4. Adding information about other people
The Service lets you save charts for other people (a partner, family member, friend) by entering their name and birth date into your chart library.
By doing this, you represent and warrant that you have that person's permission to enter their information (or, if they are a minor in your care, that you are their parent or legal guardian). You are solely responsible for having the right to enter another person's data into the Service. We are not responsible for verifying this and may remove any saved chart at our discretion if we have reason to believe it was added without appropriate permission.
5. Subscriptions, purchases, and payment
5.1 Free tier
Your daily personal reading and your Bearing are free, permanently, with an account.
5.2 Subscription
A paid subscription ($7/month, or as otherwise displayed at checkout) unlocks unlimited access to deterministic content that scales with your use of the Service: your full natal chart, the chart library (saving charts for others), monthly personal readings, and time-travel through past and near-future readings.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until canceled.
- You can cancel at any time through your account's billing management (powered by Stripe); your subscription remains active through the end of the current billing period.
- We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by law.
5.3 One-time purchases
Certain content is available as a one-time purchase instead of a subscription (for example, a $12 one-time natal chart unlock, or individual AI-synthesized deep readings). One-time purchases are charged once, at the time of purchase, and do not renew.
5.4 AI-synthesized readings
Some readings include an AI-synthesized interpretive layer generated on request. Certain AI readings are included in a subscription (for example, your monthly reading), while others — such as one-off AI-synthesized deep readings — are charged per generation, including for subscribers (typically at a reduced rate), because each generation has a real, ongoing compute cost to us. Which readings are included versus charged is shown before you generate or purchase them. All AI readings are clearly labeled as AI-generated interpretive content, distinct from the deterministic chart math, which is never AI-generated.
5.5 Payment processing
All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details. Billing disputes related to card charges should first be raised with us at support@tarotalmanac.com; we'll work with Stripe as needed to resolve them.
5.6 Pricing changes
We may change prices for the Service. For existing subscribers, we'll provide notice before a price change takes effect on your next renewal.
6. Gift links
Some content (such as a chart) may be shareable via a gift link. Gift links do not require the recipient's email address to generate or send; they're accessed via a shareable URL. You're responsible for sharing gift links only with their intended recipient.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to harass, impersonate, or harm others
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data without authorization
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or systematically extract our card meanings, readings, or other content for republication or to build a competing product
- Circumvent payment or access controls
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
8. Intellectual property
The card meanings, essays, design, formulas' presentation (not the underlying public-domain math itself), branding, and all other original content on the Service are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, republish, or create derivative works from our written content without permission.
You retain ownership of any information you input (your birth date, names of people in your chart library), but you grant us the license needed to process it in order to provide the Service to you.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ALL READINGS, CHARTS, AND AI-SYNTHESIZED CONTENT, IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND FOR ENTERTAINMENT AND SELF-REFLECTION PURPOSES ONLY. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, ABOUT THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR OUTCOMES OF ANY READING. TAROT INTERPRETATIONS, INCLUDING AI-SYNTHESIZED ONES, ARE INHERENTLY SUBJECTIVE AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON AS FACTUAL PREDICTIONS OR PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TALI BEESLEY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING DECISIONS MADE BASED ON A READING. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or discontinue the Service (or features of it) at our discretion, with reasonable notice where practical.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll provide reasonable notice (such as an email or in-app notice) before they take effect.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
